  • Kenneth Juster was sworn in as the US Ambassador to India. Vice President Mike Pence administered the oath of office to Juster in Washington
  • While on his visit to Philippines, PM Narendra Modi visited the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in Los Banos, Philippines and inaugurated ‘Shri Narendra Modi Resilient Rice Field Laboratory’.
  • Northeast is all set to get India’s first-ever “Air Dispensary” based in a helicopter and the Union Ministry of Development of Northeast (DONER) has already contributed Rs. 25 crore as part of the initial funding for this initiative.
  • Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent Charge) Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore released the India Youth Development Index and Report 2017.
  • The 4th India-Canada Ministerial Dialogue on Trade and Investment was held in New Delhi.
  • Army organised a mega event Youth Fest : 2017 on 13 Nov 2017 at the historic  Chowgan ground of Kishtwar.
  • The government launched Phase II of BharatNet project through which it aims to provide high-speed broadband connections to all panchayats by the end of 2019.

  • World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes mellitus and is observed on November 14 each year.
  • United Nations is set to open its first official talks on the use of autonomous weapons, including killer robots, at the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) for 5 days, in Geneva.

  • YES Bank is all set to launch a first-of-its-kind fintech survey. Called India Fintech Opportunities Review, the study will cover India and a few major fintech markets in the world.
  • As per a report by global consultancy and research firm, Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, India will be world’s third largest aviation market for departures by 2019.
  • For the first time, Mumbai is to host the 34th annual conference of the Asian Bankers Association on 16th and 17th November 2017.

  • Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal has announced that he will retire from all forms of cricket at the end of the ongoing National Twenty20 tournament.
  • Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has resigned as Head of the jury of the Indian Panorama of the 48th International Film Festival of India (IIFI).
  • Arjuna-awardee gymnast Dipa Karmakar was honoured with a D.Litt. degree from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala.
  • Indian cueist Pankaj Advani has won his 17th world title at the IBSF World Billiards Championship 2017 in Doha, Qatar.

Other

  • A flexible new material has been developed by researchers from Empa, the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science & Technology, which generates electricity when stressed.
